RESEARCH PROJECT ON THE TRIGGERS OF DISCRIMINATORY BEHAVIOUR
WHO IS DOING THIS RESEARCH?
- Yvette Alcott – Psychology Honours student at UNE. This research forms part of her degree requirements.
- Dr Susan Watt – Lecturer, School of Psychology at UNE, is supervising this research.
WHAT IS THIS STUDY IS ABOUT?
- Discrimination in Australia. Does it exist? Do people suffer from it?
- If they do, this study will look at the discrimination suffered by Intercountry Korean Adoptees, Caucasians and Koreans who have immigrated to Australia, and try to discover what triggers the discriminatory behaviour and ultimately get a better understanding of ways to reduce it.
WHAT DOES PARTICPATION INVOLVE?
- You must be over 18 years of age.
- Your racial heritage needs to be either Korean or Caucasian.
- You need to complete the Background Questionnaire first.
- Next, you need to complete the Survey Part 1 and Part 2. It will take about 20 minutes to complete.
- You are not required to give your name or any details that may identify you, as the research is anonymous.
- There no right or wrong answers. The answer that best fits your experience is all that is required.
- You are free not to take part in the study.
- You may discontinue the survey at any time.

- Questions caused you distress? Contact your area’s local Community Health Centre for counselling or support.

- The information collected from this research will be held securely by the researcher for up to five years in case results need to be revisited. After this time, the data will be destroyed.
